Atascadero Memorial Day Services 2014 with Boy Scout Troop 226

Every year Atascadero Troop 226 is asked to be the color guard at the local Memorial Day services. Our time to pay back VFW Post 2814 for being our troop charter and supporting us for these many years, and a time to honor all those who have served our great country.

Pinnacles National Park Campout 2014

Whitewater Rafting 2013

We just got back from a very fun and wet time of whitewater rafting on the Kaweah River. The water was low and it was a different experience than in previous years but still very fun, wet and wild. There were 17 of us in all, on three boats, lots of water fights, getting stuck in the surf, and getting stuck on rocks.

Bike Ride to Cambria

Last Saturday the Troop went on a afternoon bike ride from highway 46 to Cambria on the very scenic but twisty Santa Rosa Creek Road. It was amazingly beautiful with wild flowers, green hills and happy cows. Some riders even saw a bobcat during the ride. The boys were rewarded with a pizza parlor as our final destination A special thanks to our Scout Master, Mr. Monson for driving the sag wagon instead of riding.

Montana De Oro 10 Miler

 Our 10 mile training hike at Montana De Oro went great, the weather and views were spectacular! The boys all did great with their loaded up backpacks and even had ample energy for exploring the tide pools and running up and down the dues numerous times. Thanks to Mr Whilhite for leading this and the 3 day backpack tip coming up in January.

Open House for Troop 226

Monday, October 8th Troop 226 is inviting all boys interested in Scouting to attend their open house. We will have a climbing wall, Scout craft demonstrations and snacks.
6:30 in the Lake Pavilion on Atascadero Lake., downstairs on the lake side.

Trip Report - Newbury Ssprings 2012

 

 For the March camp Boy Scout Troop 226 went to Newbury Springs, near Barstow to explore lava tubes, practice climbing and rappelling and combing the train tracks for treasures. We welcome three new scouts from Cambria and one from Paso Robles.

Canoeing Camp Out

Our February camp out was at Lake San Antonio. The Troop spent the weekend camping, canoeing, hiking, eating and playing Cops and Robbers. We also enjoyed a nice campfire with some memorable stories and shared birthday treats in honor of Jonathan the birthday boy. It was a bit cold and overcast but everyone had a great time.

Cub Scout Pack 226

Cub Scout Pack 226 has been restarted! Cub Scouts is for boys ages 7-10 and is built around fun and parent involvement. Pack 226 is sponsored by the Atascadero Bible Church. For information contact Samantha at 805-461-0863

Deep Sea Fishing Trip

Our deep sea fishing trip has been canceled due to poor weather. The next outing is the lighthouse hike and tour on Dec. 17th.

Halloween Fund Raiser

 The boys and dads had a blast at this unusual fund raiser at the haunted house on in Atascadero. The first night brought over 500 people, the second night over 700! I have not heard what our troop made yet.We were grateful to be invited to take part by the home owner who supplied most of the costumes and make-up.
