Whitewater Rafting 2013

We just got back from a very fun and wet time of whitewater rafting on the Kaweah River. The water was low and it was a different experience than in previous years but still very fun, wet and wild. There were 17 of us in all, on three boats, lots of water fights, getting stuck in the surf, and getting stuck on rocks.

Montana De Oro 10 Miler

 Our 10 mile training hike at Montana De Oro went great, the weather and views were spectacular! The boys all did great with their loaded up backpacks and even had ample energy for exploring the tide pools and running up and down the dues numerous times. Thanks to Mr Whilhite for leading this and the 3 day backpack tip coming up in January.

Canoeing Camp Out

Our February camp out was at Lake San Antonio. The Troop spent the weekend camping, canoeing, hiking, eating and playing Cops and Robbers. We also enjoyed a nice campfire with some memorable stories and shared birthday treats in honor of Jonathan the birthday boy. It was a bit cold and overcast but everyone had a great time.

Camp Emmanuel Heights camp out

 We had a fantastic time out at Camp Emmanuel Heights the other weekend. Swimming in the pond with a zip line, blob, and trampoline, catching frogs, and walking across a slack line over the water. We also had a great camp fire that night with fun games, stories and of course marshmallows.

White Water Trip

All 20 of us survived the Boy Scout whitewater trip this weekend on the Kaweah river. Class 3 & 4 rapids are much bigger and colder than they look! A special thanks to the Dole's who arrainged the trip and let us stay on their beautiful river front property.

Red Rock Campout

Red Rock National Park was a great campout. The weather could not have been nicer, we found the Burro Schmidt Tunnel after some challenging driving on desert roads. It was over 3000ft long and came out on the other side of the mountain. The scenery was beutiful and we brought everyone back alive. Successful trip. Shooting Camp

This months camp out was at the local shooting range where we did most of our cooking in dutch ovens and camped under the patio of the club house. A special thank you gose out to Mr Decou who arrainged everything, including free ammo, and taught us Hunter Safty.

Montana de Oro Camp Out

The Montana de Oro camp out was a great success, together we had 14 Scouts and eight adults including two families. We also had several adults drop by to take part in Saturdays activities. Despite the very damp fog and nightly interruptions by hungry raccoons everyone seemed to have had a fun and memorable camp out, (especially the "Hot Dog!" skit by the Moose Patrol).
